Week in Review
This week has been jammed packed with tons of fun activities. Started off with a trip to the mall to play with friends at the indoor play ground. The weather was crazy. It started to pour rain on our way into the mall and then on the way out it was raining and sleeting. The schools actually were on a 3 hour delay the next day.
That night we went to Virginia's school where she takes speech for a meeting for upcoming kindergarteners. They had a local teacher and the head of the Head Start program talking to us about what to expect in Kindergarten. I will be honest my stomach churned just a little bit by the end of the meeting. I don't like how academically driven kindergarten as become. I feel kids at this age should be kids and learn though play. I don't feel like they should be worked as hard as they are.
I kind of laughed when they told us not to drill them over the summer but to let them be kids. Because they will be working hard during the school year. So yeah, that just made me shake my head. It does make me rethink the idea of homeschool, but I know Virginia will love school. And thankfully we can take school year by year and decide what works best for us. I am thankful to have a great homeschool group of friends that would help me in the journey if we decided to go down that path.
By the end of the week the weather was beautiful. I am talking 72 degree weather with a breeze beautiful. We spent both days at the park playing for hours. It was funny to watch Virginia, she has started to like playing with the boys more then in the past. Both days a group of boys followed her around the play ground playing.
Thursday, Reiggin took Virginia to Chili's for their Father / Daughter dinner night. Breck and I decided to meet up with some friends for BBQ.
Friday was a blast as we met our homeschool friends at the park for a play date. She spent the whole time playing soccer and playing on this huge mud hill " mining for gold ".
Virginia is truly blessed with amazing Aunts. My sister Lisa stood in line forever with Virginia so she could ride a pony. And we stood and watched Virginia walk around a circle 7 times just to make a birthday size candle. Aunt Susan and Lisa were huge help to me in taking Virginia around when I had to stop to care for Breck. I love our outings with my sisters, niece, and nephew.
Sunday we wrapped up the week by going to sunday school and sunday service. Breck made it halfway though before he decided to make a large fart and poop in the middle of the service. I just had to giggle when the guy in front of us turned around and smiled. Honestly I enjoy sitting in the crying room better some days. Our church is awesome and has a "crying room" a room beside the main room that has a couch and rockers and toys that parents can go to if they need to breast feed or if their kids are restless. The room has a double sided window where you can see inside the service and still hear the preacher's sermon.
Afterwards we relaxed for most of the day until we met up with Reiggin and went shopping at the Mall and ended the day with dinner at Pizza Hut with our good friends Meredith and Lincoln.
Knitting WIP (works in progress )
Virginia is still working on her second square for her blanket or scarf. She hasn't made up her mind yet.
I am working on two projects currently. My first project is my monthly challenge project Siamese Paws. This is my first time knitting on size one needles and doing intarsia. So learning new things with this project. My second project I am working on is a washcloth, Slant Dishcloth pattern, for my friend Jess who is expecting her second baby soon. I am wanting to knit all the dish cloth patterns on Knit Picks 52 weeks of dishcloths.
Knitting FO ( finished objects )
I have finished the womb wisdom headband/ ear warmer for Virginia. It is a little loose on her and fits me perfect. But it is much cutier on her then me. I have never looked great in ear warmers or head bands.
