Oh Salsa!!!

Mmmm salsa, how I love thee. One of the best things about Chilli's is it's bottomless chips and salsa. Well one day Reiggin brought home some salsa and chips from Food Lion to make me happy. This salsa turned out to be the best salsa I have had in a long time. So I decided to share the great find with all of you. Baja Cafe Mild Salsa is so good. Don't be fooled by the mild title. It does have a bit of a kick to it. But just the right amount that will make you come back for more. If you are looking for a snack to bring to your Super Bowl parties this weekend this is a great choice. You can find it at Food Lion with the sour cream. Hope you all will try this salsa out and let me know what you think. I have two containers of it that I am working on at the moment. They are so good that it will make you drool! Just look at Virginia watching me chow down. :0)

Chunky Monkey Update

After a rough Sunday night with Virginia, she made it up with an excellent Monday. We had our 4 month check up at the doctor's office. Virginia passed with flying colors. She is 15 pounds 14 ounces. She measures in at 24 inches long. The doctor said she is right where she should be with her weight and height. The doctor let us know that we can start solids whenever we are ready. I am super excited about that. Maybe some longer sleep patterns in our future. Well that is all for now. Hope everyone is having a great week so far.

Charlie Brown's Christmas Carol

Over Christmas, Reiggin and I received a Charlie Brown's Christmas Carol puzzle from his family. I had just stored it away in Virginia's room for the time being. But one Sunday, while we were over at his parent's house. I noticed his family was working on a puzzle. To kill some time I sat down with his brother Carey and started to work on it. I forgot how much fun puzzles can be.

Growing up my sisters and I use to do some puzzles. Susan was always really into puzzles. We even did a few 3D puzzles. Those were really tough. It had been ages since I had done a puzzle. So that night kind of sparked me to go home and start our Charlie Brown Christmas Carol puzzle. I quickly set it up on our coffee table in the living room. It took me awhile to organize the pieces. Then I was off and running. I was determined to finish the puzzle. With some help from Reiggin and Virginia. I finally finished the puzzle this week. It turned out pretty cool. I think I am going to frame it and maybe put it up in Virginia's room.

Special Day!

Putting aside my view of the election, it is exciting to be watching the Inauguration. The crowds are just beyond what I could have imagined. It is like a rock star is in town. Virginia and I are watching it on the couch. The excitement is a little to much for Virginia she has fallen asleep. The gold dress Michelle is wearing is stunning.  But I look at Laura Bush and Michelle Obama beside each other and can't help but notice the difference. Mrs. Bush has a nice calm dress on while Michelle Obama has a bright flashy gold dress on.

You have to wonder what is going though President Bushes mind today. He is wrapping up eight years of taking care of our nation. He went to bed as President of the United States of America and is waking up as a regular citizen again. Also what is Obama thinking? So many people's hopes and dreams are riding on his shoulders. People are expecting large changes. I wonder if he is ready for the weight of the job that lays ahead.

This is a huge event for our time, I wonder what will be the big event for Virginia's generation?  Will race and religion be a non combative subject for her time? I am intrigued to see what lays ahead with the new president. I pray that God will give him the wisdom to make the right decisions.

I can only imagine what his kids are going though. I mean what a change. They are so young and I wonder if they can grasp the weight of change that is coming their way.

Some funny facts were mentioned today on the TV. I never thought about how Presidents don't get to drive a car that much. That is just to funny. Also intriguing to think while all this is going on movers are making the switch at the white house. Stinks for them in a way but I guess day to day stuff has to be taken care of.

Patience

Four month old baby, lack of sleep, and 2:00 AM what does all this mean? This is what my Sunday night consisted of. Virginia had a full day. We went down to Gastonia to visit awhile with the Grandparents. She is definitely spoiled rotten. Mom brought down the swing and tried to get Virginia to be happy swinging. Virginia had other ideas. She just wanted to be held the whole time. I think I am to blame for that.

So we got home around 9:00 PM. Reiggin was enjoying playing his XBOX 360 game. We just crashed on the couch and tried to get ready for bed. Virginia didn't agree with my plans. She was highly upset and not wanting to sleep. She would drift off to sleep. Then as I am about to lay her down in the crib she would start screaming again. My frustration level was raising. I am sad to say, but I was starting to get mad with her. I know that sounds silly, but at night my patience just doesn't hold up. So from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM we went back and forth from the couch to the crib. Finally around 2:00 AM, Virginia finally went to bed. So needless to say, my night was not that fun.

The next day went better. Virginia woke up about 11:00 AM. I know I shouldn't let her sleep that late. But I was just exhausted. We hung out on the couch eatting my bagels. Then played some Animal Crossing City Folks. Reiggin finally woke up.  I handed her off to him for awhile. I made a run to the shower and took a bath. Virginia decided to join me at the end and get clean also. She was making some of the cutiest faces after the bath. I just can't stay made at a face like that. Even if she does keep me up past 2:00 AM.

After getting ready we decided to make our way down to Rock Hill. It was my first time getting to see Susan's new house. Which by the way, was super nice. Also it was the first meeting of the cousins.  Sam and Virginia are going to be best buds. I was  super surprised to see how well Rufus and Nico have taken to having the baby around. Rufus really surprised me most.  He protected and took care of the babies so gently. He just followed Susan around.  When  Virginia and I went into the nursery to change her diaper. Rufus came right behind us and just layed in the floor peaceful watching us. It was just to cute. We visited for awhile and then made our way back up to Troutman.

To my delight when we got home I saw a few snow flakes. I managed to get Virginia to lay down around midnight. Who knows maybe this will be a nice night. So I am off to dream and hope for a white snow covered morning.

Rufus forgive me!

I would like to apologize to Rufus. I didn't mean to call him a girl. He is a very handsome man. I am also glad to hear that he is taking good care of her new sister Sam.  Rufus likes to follow Susan and Samantha around the house. I just think that is to cute. I can't wait to go visit Rufus and Sam this week.

My Chunky Monkey

Ok so I felt like I need to spot light Virginia a little. I don't want her getting jealous of Samantha now do I. Well my baby girl is turning 4 months on the 22nd. Time as really flown by. She is making tons of sounds now. She can grasp things and is starting to hold her rattle and shake it. She is just getting bigger and bigger. I just love her big belly. Hair is coming in slow but she is still cute. Also I am super excited that the cloth diapers that Aunt Susan got her finally came in. Virginia loves them. She is sporting the monkey diaper in the pictures. I absolutely love the skull diaper. I am not a fan of the light purple diaper, but it was a free diaper since because of a snow storm they didn't come on schedule. I also have my new prefolds. So I am not having to squeeze Virginia to get her into her diapers anymore. I believe we are finally set for awhile with the cloth diapers. I honestly never thought I would say that I really enjoy cloth diapers. But they are fun. I treat Virginia like my little baby doll. I get to dress her up and play with her.  I just can't wait to see what lays ahead!

Visiting Samantha

Yesterday Lisa and I drove down to Gastonia to visit Samantha, Susan, and Joe. With just one hiccup Lisa almost took out my small tree backing out of the driveway. But it would have been a blessing if she had because the tree is so ugly.

But anyway back to the important stuff. Susan and Joe are doing great. They seem to be settling into being parents pretty easy. Susan was looking great. She had the glow of being a mother about her. Samantha is cute as a button. I am telling you the Ford women just make cute babies.

Susan had a pretty easy labor. By the time she got to the hospital she was already ten centimeters dilated. Then she just had to push for about 28 minutes. Of course being a Ford and being competitive she had to one up me. She had Samantha 4 days early and pushed for a shorter time then me. But it is all good! I got to hold Samantha for awhile. I forgot how small babies feel in your arms. Virginia has gotten so big now. I can toss her around like a football. Samantha felt so fragile. It is hard for me to think Virginia was even smaller then Samantha at birth. But Samantha is doing great. She was born at 9:25 am and weighed 8 pounds. She has a nice round head and no problems. Susan and Joe will be taking her home Friday. Let us all pray that her two sisters Nico and Rufus will not mistake her as a new chew toy.

Virginia is highly excited about getting to meet her cousin Samantha. You can tell her excitement by the picture at the bottom. Of course I couldn't do a entry without posting some photos of Virginia also. So enjoy the cute photos of Samantha and Virginia. Oh and Susan and Joe aren't bad either.
