Cute Photos

I went down to Gastonia last Friday and spent some time with my parents. My Mom was kind enough to cook me my favorite meal Pizza! She was also very excited to have some time with Virginia. Even my Dad managed to steal Virginia away from my Mom for awhile. He is already teaching her who the best basketball team is, the Tarheels.  So here are some cute pictures from Friday and last week.

Happy Monday

Well happy Monday to everyone! Yep it is 8:07 am and I have been up since 7:00 am. I know you are all shocked at this fact. I remember the days of sleeping til noon and later. But I can honestly say that the day is nicer when I get up early. When I am up early, it makes the day longer and I feel I get more done. Not to say I don't still enjoy sleeping late. My dear husband allowed me to sleep til 1:00 pm Sunday. Now that was nice.

But today, I decided when I got up at 7:00 am to feed and change Virginia that I would just stay up. I was pretty much wide awake anyway. So I went ahead and got Virginia settled back down in her crib. Then I went off to the kitchen to put all the clean dishes away. Then loaded the dish washer back up with the dirty dishes. After that I made me some chocolate milk and toasted some bagels. Then I settled on the couch and turned on some Food Network Challenge: Edible Ornaments. It is quite nice to have some time to myself. No crying baby or anyone around.
Just me relaxing.

So this week should be a fun week. I have a doctor appointment Tuesday. Wednesday, I hope to grab lunch with the girls from my old work, G.A Communications. Then I plan to go down to Gastonia on Saturday to see the grandparents if I get a chance. The jewel of the week is going to be Sunday. Sunday my sister, Lisa, and I are off to see the Panthers play the Denver Broncos. I am so excited. Excited to be baby free. And happy to have a night out with my sister.

Now for some laughs. I have learned to watch what you wear when their is a camera sitting on the coffee table. This past week I was a little lazy about taking a shower and putting on clothes. I mean who wouldn't want to stay in your PJ's all day. Well my lovely husband caught me coming out of Virginia's room in my styling outfit. I have the nice hair style of not having a shower for two days. I have on one of his comfy t-shirts along with my pink star printed flannel pants. And for some added air conditioning I have my pant legs rolled up. I know, don't ask me what I was thinking. But I was quite comfortable in my outfit playing Animal Crossing: City Folk for most of the day. But this photo just cracks me up. And who doesn't need a good laugh on a Monday.

6:41am and awake

So, I am up at 6:41am trying to get Virginia to go back to sleep. She has gotten a lot  better. She is sleeping five hours at a time now at night. I am thankful for that.  So as I sit here waiting for her to fall asleep, I have been searching on etsy.com for diaper covers and cloth diapers. I am just blown away at the cost of these things. I mean, I understand they are handmade but I look at the prices and wish I knew how to sew. I think that may be a project of mine. I am going to learn how to sew. I wish I had my own sewing machine and had the skills to use one. I have always wanted to make my own purses. And now I want to make my own diaper covers and cloth diapers. Yeah I know a girl can dream.

It cracks me up thinking how your priorities can change over the years. I mean just a couple of years ago all I was thinking about was myself. Now I am married with a child. I find myself asking for diapers for Christmas. And thinking about how I can be a better cook. Maybe be better at keeping the house clean.

This past Tuesday I went down to Gastonia and had lunch with a bunch of my girlfriends from high school. It is first amazing that we are all friends still. We don't get to hang out as much as we all wish we could. Since we are all scattered across the area. But sitting at the Applebee's table I started to think. Thinking about where each girl was in their lives and where I am. Katherine is finishing up pharmacy school and getting married in 2010. Melanie is living in Charlotte and working. LeAnn has a beautiful boy and successful job. Susan is living all the way in Washington state, married to a great guy and has a nice job. Katie is a mother of 6 with one on the way. She manages to work and still be a super mommy and wife. And one missing Lisa living in California. Married and being the best wife ever. And how can I forget Sarah. She is our own gypsy. She will most likely be traveling the world teaching people English. I don't think back in 2000 in high school I thought this would be where we all are today. But I can honestly say I am happy and thrilled to see what my future holds.

I am sorry, I know I am all mushy. But at 7:00am your mind starts to wander around a bit. And being a stay at home mom now. Between the episodes of Jon & Kate plus 8, NCIS, and Food Network Challenges, I find myself day dreaming. And of course I am busy cleaning and doing laundry :-). I mean I don't sit on the couch all day. I would weight about 500 pounds if I did that.

Ok, sorry for the random blog entry. But I believe Virginia is asleep it is 7:00am and I am off to catch a nap before she decides to wake back up. Catch you all later.

P.S. That is a old picture of all of us. But the only one I could find with all of us. I really need to get a new picture. And I do promise that I will blog about other things then cloth diapers very soon.

Cloth Diaper Covers

So as all of you know I have started the cloth diaper routine. It is going pretty smooth. I am starting to get a better grasp at the whole thing. Getting my routine down is slowly coming along. But one thing I have noticed is that I really want some new covers. Now covers is what you use to go over top of your cloth diaper. They protect the babies clothes basically. They just act as a barrier keeping the poop and pee from the babies clothes. Now a days there are some really cool designer covers. I have a few but not enough. I was searching the web today and came across some really cool covers. Here are just a few.

Well Worth the Wait!

Well as all of you know I get addicted to some silly games. One of these games is Pet Society on Facebook. It is a role playing game I guess you could say. You first make your pet and then give it a name. My pet is named Lily. Then you get a basic one room house.  From there you get to decorate the house and dress your pet. You have to keep your pet clean, happy, and fed.  You also can win trophies along the way for different achievements. As you continue to play and gain points you move up levels. The highest level now is 34. I am at level 28. But the best part is the game follows the holidays.  So now they are doing Christmas. They bring out new items every Monday for us to buy. It is the highlight of my Monday. You also can visit other friends houses and see how they decorate their house and pet. I have gone a little over board and have added 112 friends. I know it is silly but Pet Society is just addictive.

Now since Reiggin knew how much I love Pet Society. He knew I would enjoy Animal Crossing:City Folk. So has a early Christmas present he got me the game and the wii mic. This game rocks. I could play it for hours. Shoot I do play it for hours each day. It is similar to pet society. First you name your person. Then you name the town you live in. Then off you go on the bus. You get your very own house. That you can decorate. You have to work to pay off the mortgage of the house. As you pay off the mortgage your house gets bigger. There are fun things to do in town like fish, catch bugs, dig for fossils, cut down trees, pick fruit, and visit your friends and neighbors. The best part is with the wii mic you can talk and play with people online. So I get to play and chat with my best friend Lisa who lives in California. Animal Crossing:City Folk also follows the holidays and has special events though the year. It is just to much fun.

Now enough about my video game addiction. Here is a update on how Virginia is growing. We took her to the doctors for her first set of vaccanations. Needless to say that was not fun. She was fussy for awhile afterwards. But we found out she now weighs 11 pounds. She is 22 inches long. The doctor said she is in the 50th pecentile. Which is right where she should be according to the doctor. I just can't get over how much she has grown. Looking back at old photos, you really can see the growth. She is now smiling at us and we heard her laugh for the first time on Sunday. It is just to cute.

We are currently using cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers. This as been a challenge. First I wasn't to thrilled. I mean how many people love swirling a diaper in the toliet and squezzing it dry. Not I. But now I have a different method. I also have gotten better at putting the diapers on . I do the twist method. It seems to be doing the trick. I am slowly starting to get on board with the whole cloth diaper thing. I don't think I will ever love it as much as my friend Katie. But I will be able to stick with the program.

Now to wrap things up here are some photos for your enjoyment!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Good Grief

Ok, so again I have a lot of random information to pass on. It has been a pretty calm week for the most part. Virginia is growing fast and is getting chunky. But she is still cute as a button. She has her doctor's appointment Monday. I will be sad to see her get three shots, but excited to see how much she weighs. She has been a little more fussy than usual. So we decided to go up to Hickory Monday to this children's shop called Once Upon a Child to buy a swing. We dropped Virginia off at Reiggin's parents and went on our way. It was so nice to have some time where it was just me and Reiggin and no crying baby. We went to the mall and had Chick-fil-a. And then went to Game Stop where Reiggin got a new XBox game and I got a microphone to use on Guitar Hero World Tour. Later, I will be getting my early Christmas present and getting Animal Crossing: City Folk. I am super excited about the new game. I roped Lisa into getting it with me. So we can play and chat together. Next we went to the children's shop. Oh my gosh, it was amazing. There was rows and rows of clothes. And awesome toys. We found the perfect swing that matches the stroller and pack-n-play that we already have. And we also picked out some new outfits that looked brand new. I fell in love with this store. I wish I had known about it before I had Virginia. They had awesome deals. So we headed back home and luckily Virginia behaved great for the grandparents. She was pretty sleepy, thank goodness. But I must say the swing is a life saver. It rocks Virginia to sleep in minutes. Giving me time to eat and clean the house without having to tote her around. And it gives us more time to spend together during the night.

Also, I have found a new eye doctor up here in Statesville. I hope it goes smooth. I am sure it will. But I needed to get the prescription and brand of contacts I wear. So I couldn't find an empty box. I called my old doctor and asked if they could tell me over the phone. Okay, I understand that they can't tell medical information over the phone. But good grief, all I wanted was my eye prescription. Anyway, it is all good.

But to wrap up my week, I will be preparing for my sister Susan's baby shower. Hopefully everything goes well and my food will be great. I can't wait to see my sisters and parents. Also, it will be the first time that my aunt will get to see Virginia. So that is all. I hope everyone is doing well. Now Virginia is crying so off I go.

Early Thanksgiving

Well, we had a busy Sunday. First, Grandma Hilderbrand came by after church and visited with Virginia. It is always nice to see her and I know Virginia loves her grandma.

Then we headed down to Concord to Donnie and Meredith's house for a surprise Thanksgiving dinner. Meredith, Donnie's wife, has not had Thanksgiving dinner with her mom for five years. Her whole family lives in Washington state so she just hasn't been able to make it out for the holidays. So while her mom is visiting, Donnie had the great idea to throw a surprise Thanksgiving dinner and invite all her friends. Well, when I first heard about the plans I wondered, who is doing all the cooking? I mean Thanksgiving dinner is no small task. I have only known Donnie to grill hamburgers and hotdogs so I didn't know if he could cook a whole Thanksgiving meal for twelve people. Luckily, Donnie called in the reserves, his mom Linda. She cooked up a feast. Everything tasted amazing; from the turkey, ham, loaded mash potatoes, devil eggs, to the pumpkin roll. I had to hold myself back from going back for thirds. Along with the food came good company. Bridget and Tony came. Then Amy, Jamie, and their cute son Torrin. Torrin is getting ready to turn one year old in December. He is just too cute. He was very interested in the DVD player and Virginia. I had to tell him sorry, Virginia is not allowed to date til she is 50. I just can't wait til Virginia is that active and talking. I am sure that time will wear us out but it was just so much fun playing with Torrin. It was a long night but loads of fun seeing everyone.

Social Butterfly

Well this week has been a series of social ge-togethers. What can I say; Virginia is on high demand. Thursday we traveled down to Huntersville to have lunch at Chili's with my old college buddy Liz. We had so much fun catching up and talking about the college days. It had been about 2 years since I had seen Liz so we had alot to talk about. And of course, Virginia wanted some attention too so Liz happily held her at the end to soothe a crabby baby . Of course Virginia lit right up. I think someone is spoiled.

Next, we made the ride over to Aunt Lisa's house in Statesville to have a girl's nite in. It was really nice; just me and Lisa hanging out. We got a tour of Lisa's new house. Which, I must say, is beautiful. Then we had some dinner and watched some "What Not To Wear." Afterwards, we did a test run on the cake Lisa wants to bake for Susan's baby shower. Well, I should say, Lisa did all the baking. Virginia was wide awake and wanted my attention. But Lisa did a great job and the cake was tasty. After all the baking, Lisa got some Virginia time in and we finalized some baby shower details.

Then, on Saturday, the whole family got together at The Talley House for dinner. The grandparents had to squeeze some Virginia time in before going home. It was great seeing everyone. And it is always great to see the joy on my mom's face when she is holding Virginia. It was a short but sweet visit. Then we headed home for a nice treat of Mr. Pibb, Italian Ice, and some Food Network Challenges. Reiggin knows how to make me happy.

Sunday is going to involve a visit from Grandma Hilderbrand and an early thanksgiving dinner at the Lassiters'. I will do another blog on that later.

Here are some updated pictures of Virginia to please a certain birdy in California. ENJOY!
