Cooking for beginners!

Ok so after finishing this post I decided that I would try to be a great wife and have dinner ready for my husband when he got home from work. Ok, I am not the best cook so I thought, "let's just start off simple." So I decided to make tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Simple enough, right? Oh so wrong was I. I started the soup first and, keep in mind it is my first time cooking in my new house. I quickly discovered that my stove heats up fast. As the soup is heating I was fixing the grilled cheese. As I am buttering the sandwiches all of a sudden the soup over boils and spills everywhere on the stove. At least I had enough sense to take the soup off the heat. So that is the first disaster. Next, on my frying pan, the butter is crusting up on the pan so the sandwich is sticking to it. So I try to use my spatula. Well I learned that you should not use a plastic spatula with high heat. It will melt. Oh yeah. One spatula down and about 2 grilled cheese sandwiches burnt to a crisp. I switch pans and make 2 sandwiches that are not completely burnt and Reiggin comes though the door. I thought for sure the house probably smelled like I had burned the kitchen down. But my husband is super sweet and said everything smelled great. And he ate it all and said it was delicious. He is too kind to me. Hopefully next dinner will go a little more smooth.

What a change!

Hey everyone! I know it has been awhile. But I have been very
busy. My Mom and I have finished planning my wedding and I am officially Mrs. Kathy Ford Hilderbrand. And I am loving it. We spent a day up in Virginia Beach. We checked out the Virginia Aquarium, which was awesome. I believe the best thing was the turtles and otters. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon at Virginia Beach. The weather was perfect. We walked along the beach and then decided to ride this two seater tricycle. It was a blast! I laughed so much. And then, on the ride back, it started to pour down rain. I mean raining cats and dogs! I couldn't help but laugh as both me and Reiggin were soaked through and through. But we both had a blast.

Next we made our way up to Washington, D.C. for t
hree days.  We ran into some bad traffic but finally made it to our hotel. After about a hour of driving around D.C. we found a place to eat. The next day we spent the whole day walking around downtown D.C. My feet were killing me but we saw so much. I saw the Capitol, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and lots of museums. It was a blast and I took more pictures then you can believe.

So now we are back at home in Troutman, NC.
Everything is going smooth. I am slowly
learning to be a great wife I believe. I have mastered the washing machine with Reiggin's help. And slowly but surely the house is getting cleaned. I think I may need some work before I am a great grocery shopper like my husband Reiggin. But I think I will be able to master this soon.

So everything is going great. Monday I start my new job at GA Communciations. Wish me luck. I am a little nervous about starting a new job and just wanting to do the best job ever. And I need to find a new baby doctor and sign up for baby classes. Also I need to get my name changed on all my documents and accounts. It is only about 3 months til Virginia will be joining us. So as you can tell I have a busy few months ahead of me. But I am excited about all the changes going on in my life. I have a great husband and soon we will have a beautiful baby girl, Virginia. So stay tuned and I will try to keep you all informed on what is going on.

Flowers and More Flowers!!

Well with my new home I am determined to have a beautiful yard just like my parents. My mom and dad have always been great with the yard. My dad keeps the grass as green and trimmed as possible. Whenever anyone comes over the first thing out of their mouth is WOW your yard is amazing. That is something I hope one day for my home. So here are some recent photos of my parents prize flowers. I would say they border on obsessive . There is not a weekend that goes by that one of them is not bringing home new flowers. So enjoy the photos!

Fun Times with the Gang!

Here are some fun pictures from my girls' night out! We first went to Ruby Tuesdays and then met up with the guys for a fun night of bowling.

Virginia Leigh Hilderbrand

Here are a few new ultrasound pictures that were made this week. I hope you all enjoy. I know both me and Reiggin were laughing so hard when we saw Virginia had both legs up at her head and butt up in the air. Don't ask me who she gets that from. Also before I forget everyone has to go check out the great website that Reiggin made for Virginia and make sure to go to the bottom of the page and make your guess on her weight and birthdate.

Mix Bag

Well I know it has been awhile. It is not that I have been super busy because I really have not been that crazy. I have actually been super happy and just swept up in the day to day stuff.

Reiggin is all moved into our new house, called Rose Arbor. Cute name, I must say. It is so funny to say our house. I can't put down enough words to say how happy I am about the future and just the current state my life is in. I am super excited about my wedding on June 21st. It is just around the corner. I am a little scared to think of all the changes. But I am just thrilled to have such a great guy. I hope I can be a great wife & try to be an awesome cook and well organized house keeper. Stop laughing now Susan I know house keeper and Kathy in the same sentence.

We found out the baby is a girl. I am so excited about having a girl. All the cute outfits and of course teaching her how to play softball. I just can't wait. I am now 21 weeks along. Just about 5 months and a week along. It is crazy how fast this pregnancy is going. I just hope to be a strong mother and raise my baby girl up strong. I know both me and Reiggin have great examples of parents. If I can be half of the mother of what my mom was to me then I will be set.

Now for wedding plans. There truly is no such thing as a simple small wedding. Don't fool yourself, I know I did for awhile. Wedding planning is a headache at times. I think I am now starting to be peaceful and calm again with the wedding. Now if I can just find that perfect dress then all will be great.

Some funny stories for you all. Our new home is up in Troutman and this past weekend I was up there helping move some of Reiggin's stuff in and clean up a bit. We had two guys come over that worked for Time Warner to put in the cable and internet. Now keep in mind these were 2 black guys and had no official uniform on. But this is just the sign that you live in a small town when your cable guys are putting a ladder on the cable pole to put something on for the internet and one of your neighbors or someone near by calls the cops on them. And the cops actually came out and stopped and talked to the poor workers. I just cracked up laughing. Luckily these guys had good senses of humor. Also they discovered some guests in our back yard. Black snakes :-(.

Another great house story is that this past weekend we had the family over to check out the place and my brother-in-law Mike was out on the back deck and discovered a baby possum in a pot that was sitting on the deck. Not thinking, we all decided to just tip the pot over and let the cute possum free. Well the possum climbed the rail and up the rose branches into our attic. Oh yeah into our attic. Not good at all. The lovely possum has already pushed out some of the insulation. So now we are on the hunt for a good way of possum removal. :-).

On a happy note, my awesome sister, Susan, and brother-in-law, Joe, are back in town. For Good :-). I am thrilled and I must say happy to have them both back in town. There will be Subway trips in the future. I think that is it for me. Got to get back to work! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Changes, Changes, and more Changes!

Hey Everyone! I hope that everything is going well for you guys. I know that I am doing great. I have so much news to share that I am not sure where to start. I will start from the beginning.

Back in January I found out that I am pregnant. Now I know what you are thinking, " Was this planned?" , and the answer is no. But I feel that God doesn't give us more than we can handle. And I am blessed with a loving family, friends, and fiancee. I must say, at first I was super scared and shocked. But I have moved past that and I am super happy and excited about the future. I still am a little scared, but I think that is normal. But the great news is that we found out we are having a baby GIRL!!! Oh yeah girls rule! So my due date is September 25, 2008.

Now leading into my next big news. I am ENGAGED!! Yep, some poor fool actually loves me enough to marry me. HeHe. Well I am super happy and lucky to say my now fiancee, Reiggin, asked me to marry him a couple of weeks ago. It was very sweet and super cool the way he did it. We went out to lunch and he had written a long blog entry all about me. And at the end of it asked if I would marry him. If you have not seen it yet you have to go to his blog, reiggin.com, and check it out. Leave a comment. He loves getting comments and I love reading them. But we have the wedding set for June 21st. Yes, it is just right around the corner. But I can't wait to share my whole life and future with Reiggin. He has been so kind and so loving to me. I couldn't have asked God for a better man.

Also, we have gotten a rental house in Troutman, NC. It is super cute and looks like a cottage. Reiggin will be moving in this week, but I will be coming after the wedding. We have been trying to get it cleaned, which has been a monster of a job. But it is coming along. I think my favorite part of the house is the front porch with a swing. I could stay out there for hours. It is also has really pretty roses that are on the front porch and back deck. I can't wait for them to bloom.

Well I think that is about all the big news and information I need to update everyone on. I know it is a lot and a lot to take in. But I am glad to say I am doing great and am happier than I have ever been. I hope everyone out there is doing wonderful and til next time. Much Love!!
